Appreciation Luncheon
Communities In Schools is WILD about their donors and supporters and on September 13th they honored them at the McKenna Events Center. After a particularly tumultuous year, it was a breath of fresh air to be able to come together and celebrate the CIS program, the children it serves, and the committed members of the community that care so much about them. Some of the organizations that CIS is WILD about are the Braunfels Foundation Trust, Comal County United Way, the Harvey E. Najim Family Foundation, Hunter Industries, McKenna Legacy Foundation, Oakwood Baptist Church, Schlitterbahn, William and Carol Schumacher, Graham and Elizabeth Weston and many, many more. It is because of these organizations that at-risk students are given the tools to become successful students and eventually productive members of this community.
The McKenna Legacy Foundation was recognized for their unwavering support of Communities In Schools and the students it serves with the presentation of the “Friend of Children Award”. This award honors organizations that best emulate the mission of Communities In Schools which is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
A particularly poignant moment of the event was the viewing of the “Everybody Has a Story” video which beautifully articulates what the CIS program is in the words of the students it serves. This video can be viewed by visiting our homepage and clicking on video link.
