Pack the Bus
On August 5th, CIS conducted its annual Pack the Bus school supply drive which provides new school supplies to thousands of students throughout the school year. Each year, the need for this program becomes greater. CIS appreciates everyone’s help to make sure that every child in our community walks into their classroom prepared and confident.
Bus drop-offs were located at HEB- New Braunfels (both locations), HEB-Bulverde, HEB Schertz and Kohl’s in New Braunfels. School buses were parked at these locations and CIS staff and board members were there to take donations and provide program information. Donations that were collected at these sites were distributed by CIS to campuses and made available to any student that needed help with school supplies. These supplies are also made available throughout the year as needed.
HEB also offered customers the opportunity to donate to Pack the Bus through check-out station tear-off coupons. Donations made at the two New Braunfels stores, the Bulverde HEB and the Schertz HEB will be directed back to CIS in New Braunfels.
The Kohl’s location was once again the base for CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health Systems and Blue Cross/Blue Shield Care Van that provided immunizations. In addition, the New Braunfels Police Department was available with their Kid Print program and the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Pediatric Mobile Unit and had car seat inspections.
In addition to the event on August 5th, businesses, churches and civic organizations collected school supplies at their locations throughout the month of July.
